The Master's program in Software Engineering is dedicated to qualify first-degree graduates for management and leadership activities in international software engineering domains. Future leaders in software engineering have to be able to translate theory into practice, manage technical and organizational aspects of software development, interlink technical competences and managerial skills, communicate successfully in an international environment, employ modern technologies for business etc. Therefore, the Master's program is taking a cross-disciplinary approach.
Entry Requirements
- a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in computer science or a closely-related field or
- a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in a different field, and proven formal training or practical experience with computer science for at least three years
- high level of proficiency in English
- Applicants should have an excellent or good European first degree – a German average grade of 2.5 or better
Our way to your mastership
You will have lectures, seminars, project work, exercises, case studies, applied learning in cooperation with business partners and so on. We strive to build up your methodological competence, your social competence, your personal competence, and your subject knowledge. We regard these cornerstones as fundamental in order to establish problem solving competence in a complex work environment, whether it is Software Engineering related or Management related.
Three semesters towards your master's degree
We impart the theoretical fundamentals as well as the various cornerstones of problem solving competence during the first year. Within different modules you are prepared for planning and leading activities in software engineering.

The third semester is dedicated to the master's thesis in which you choose and focus on a specific topic guided by one of our teachers and/or a company. The thesis is accompanied by the master's colloquium.
