General Information

Our successful Master's programme in Mechanical Engineering is from now on only offered in English language.

It builds upon fundamental knowledge acquired in undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering or comparable fields and provides advanced qualifications at the master's level, preparing graduates for high-level engineering roles. The core compulsory modules define the programme's profile through three focal areas:

  • Drive Systems,
  • Mechatronics,
  • Materials and Structural Mechanics.

These areas can be further expanded with specialized technical electives. Additional interdisciplinary project work as part of the course of study foster broad knowledge and methodological skills, promoting a systemic and holistic approach to mechanical engineering.

Upon completing their studies, graduates of this Master’s programme in Mechanical Engineering are equipped to independently conduct scientific work in applied research and development in academia and industry. The industry is waiting for you!

Course content

The programme emphasizes a comprehensive understanding of machines as integrated systems where components from various disciplines interact. It covers mechanical, dynamic and electronic interactions within specific assemblies, as well as aspects of sustainability, optimality, robustness and reliability, transfer and flow of energy, material, and information. Key systemic interactions include:

  • Power flows and energy conversion,
  • Optimization of overall system performance,
  • Dynamic responses and control loop design,
  • Programming of fault-tolerant software,
  • Innovative component design and material selection.

Integrated system development also accounts for unavoidable disturbances and tolerances, ensuring overall system stability and reliability.
