A pathway of academic and practical qualification in a high tech sector of a growing industry branch
This master program is a joint initiative between the Coburg University of Applied Sciences and the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. It has the objective to qualify students in the methods and technologies used in the field of the study program as well as to train them on how to apply those methods and technologies within different practical projects. Through the program participants have the opportunity to further their theoretical knowledge and practical experience. They will be able to do networking and projects with industrial and scientific partners both in Germany and in China. The language of instruction for the program is English.
The program is a four semester program, which will constitute one semester in Coburg, one semester in Shanghai, a practical internship abroad and a master thesis semester. The subjects to be covered within the program are as follows: Sensor technology, computer based measurement technology, mathematical data analysis, nanometrology, photoelectric detection, digital signal processing, language training and intercultural soft skills. Students can chose electives out of a broad variety as automotive electronics, methods of instrumental analysis, microacoustic sensors, flow measurement, chemical sensors, medical imaging technology, scientific documentation and reporting, design of experiments, risk of investment in emerging technologies, computer simulation of sensors and actuators.
Student knowledge and practical know-how will be complemented and supported with project studies, participation in international fairs. The master thesis project will beperformed with partner companies within a practical project. Accompanying language training will be provided: German and Chinese. The students also have an opportunity to experience the genuine culture of living and working in the country of the partner institution, as well as the opportunity to have contact with the enterprises and research institutions.

Analytical Instruments, Measurement and Sensor Technology (AIMS) is an accredited international study program in the English language offered by the Coburg University of Applied Sciences and the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.
You need an undergraduate degree in engineering or in natural sciences with above-average results, proven proficiency in English, knowledge in electronics, post grad professional experience of at least one year and some intercultural competence.
Tuition fees: 3,500 Euros per semester + service fee of about 110 Euros
On the completion of the program, you will attain a “Master of Engineering (M.Eng.)” degree from the Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
