FIBAA Accredited Program

Due to the integrated study abroad component, as well as a syllabus covering a wide range of international issues and modern teaching methods, the programme has been accredited by the European accreditation agency ACQUIN. The programme focuses strongly on finance courses as well as on social skills such as communication, intercultural understanding, teamwork, and self-management.

Programme Outline

All students will spend at least one semester at a university abroad in order to receive the MSc International Finance degree from the Nürtingen-Geislingen University.
Students will spend the first two semesters at the Nürtingen-Geislingen University and then go abroad for either one semester or one year.
IFM students have 2 attractive study abroad options to choose from!

Option 1 / Double-Degree Option

Students complete 2 semesters at the Nürtingen-Geislingen University and go abroad to study an additional year at a university of their choice in UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Ireland, South Africa or New Zealand.

After completion of required coursework (approx. 2 years in total) students will be awarded the MSc International Finance degree from the Nürtingen-Geislingen University, as well as a master degree from the university abroad.

Option 1 Programme Outline

  • 1st Semester: Nürtingen, Germany - October to February
  • 2nd Semester: Nürtingen, Germany - March to July
  • 3rd + 4th Semester: Study abroad at a university of your choice in UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Ireland, South Africa or New Zealand as a Freemover - approx. September to September the following year

Option 2 / Integrated Semester Abroad Option

Students complete 2 semesters at the Nürtingen-Geislingen University and go abroad to our partner institution, the University of South Wales for the 3rd semester. After completion of required coursework students will be awarded the MSc International Finance degree from the Nürtingen-Geislingen University.

  • 1st Semester: Nürtingen, Germany - October to February
  • 2nd Semester: Nürtingen, Germany - March to July
  • 3rd Semester: Semester abroad at the University of South Wales, UK - September to January

All students will spend at least one semester at a university abroad. IFM students have two attractive study abroad options to choose from:

Option 1: 3rd semester modules taking place in Wales/UK (winter semester):

  • Accounting Research Management & Methods
  • Contemporary Issues in Accounting Thought
  • Corporate Governance

Option 2: 3rd and 4th semester modules taking place at a university of your choice in UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa or New Zealand as a Freemover.

How Do I Apply to the MSc IF Programme?

Application Deadline

June 1st - for admission to the winter semester (starting in October each year)
The programme only starts in the winter semester each year. A start in the summer semester is not possible.

Admission Requirements

All applications are processed by uni-assist. Please visit their website for fees and further information: www.uni-assist.de

Please fill out the ONLINE APPLICATION, print it out and then send it to uni-assist along with the following documents before the application deadline on June 1st (all documents need to be received by June 1st, the date of the postmark will not be considered):

  • Proof of a degree in Business, Business Law, Economics or Management from a German institute of higher education or vocational college or a comparable degree from a foreign institute of higher education. (legally attested copy)
    •  Above-average examination results must have been obtained during the first degree course (a final grade of at least 2.3 on the German scale). In the case of law degrees a minimum of 6.5 points must be have been attained.
    • All foreign degrees will be validated through uni-assist. Uni-assist will also convert your final grade average to the German grading scale (1,0 excellent - 5,0 fail).
  • Evidence of proficiency in English. Please note that you have to submit only one of the following:
    • First degree from a program conducted completely in the English languageTest of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL - www.toefl.org) with at least 213 points (computer based) or 79 points (internet based)Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) with at least 785 points
    • First Certificate in English (FCE)
    • Cambridge Advance English (CAE)
    • Cambridge Proficiency (CPE)
    • Business English Certificate Vantage Level (BEC Vantage)
    • International English Language Testing System Academic (IELTS) with a minimum of 6.5 points
    • Evidence of English proficiency is not required with a GMAT score of at least 500 points (GMAT is only required for those students choosing the Double-Degree Option with a university that requires a GMAT)
  • Chinese, Mongolian, and Vietnamese applicants also need to attach the Original Certificate of the "Akademische Prüfstelle des Kulturreferates der Deutschen Botschaft" (APS) from their country
  • Curriculum Vitae with personal details, education and work experience
  • Any documents concerning international and/or work experience (i.e. letter of recommendation, etc.)
