The focus of the Master program in Biomedical Sciences (MSc) lies on the biomedical field (see Curriculum). All courses and lectures are being taught in English, the course structures are strictly modular. All academic and examination results are quoted as credits according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Therefore an international recognition is assured."

Why this programme?

The Master´s programme offers a wide range of theoretical and practical classes with a focus on biomedical sciences. Due to the multidisciplinary character of our faculty, there is a large number of diverse elective courses to choose from. Interdisciplinary projects further motivate students to perform research in different scientific disciplines. Training includes state of-the-art techniques, ranging from proteomics to advanced methods in human genetics, up to techniques used in clinical immunology. The high portion of practical classes provides students with strong technical skills.

Successful students will be awarded the M.Sc. degree in Biomedical Sciences by Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg. This degree enables graduates to apply for a PhD-programme at any university.

  • Advanced and Clinical Immunology
  • Special Fields in Biology 1 & 2

4. Semester: 

  • Master Thesis and Thesis Defense (Colloquium)

Admission Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in biological sciences, grade at least "good" (2.2). Proof of courses equivalent to 6 ECTS in the following topics: Molecular Biology/Genetics, Immunology, Developmental Biology, Human Biology and Physiology. Proficiency in English (For international applicants: paper-Based TOEFL: minimum score of 550, Computer-based TOEFL: minimum score of 213, or Internet-based TOEFL: minimum score of 79. The original TOEFL score report has to be sent by ETS, our institution code is 7977.) Each application will be examined by the Admission Committee.

Job opportunities

The M.Sc. in Biomedical Sciences highly qualifies students for positions in research and development in medical, diagnostic or biological laboratories, both in academics and in pharmaceutical or biotech companies. There will also be opportunities for management positions in the industry and in government, in scientific journals and in education. Students may also wish to continue their studies by undertaking research in postgraduate programmes.
