Artistic Practice and Society* offers students the opportunity to explore all areas of the practicing arts in the context of a liberal arts education 

The core curriculum consists of courses that address some of the most important texts and artifacts in the cultural legacies of Europe and the world.

Areas of Artistic Practice

Students take courses at foundational and advanced level in the following fields and investigate the links between them: painting, drawing and sculpture, video, film, creative writing, performance, and theater. Other artistic practices addressed include dance, sound, ceramics and architecture.

German Language Study

Language study in German from beginner to advanced level is available throughout the program. All BA in Artistic Practice and Society candidates must demonstrate intermediate proficiency in German by the end of their second year.

Admission

Applicants are required to have a high school degree by the time they matriculate into the program. B.A. students may be eligible to obtain both a German B.A. degree from Bard College Berlin and an American BA degree from Bard College. For information on German degree eligibility, visit our website.

Bard College Berlin's programs are taught entirely in English. Therefore, applicants need to provide documentation of knowledge of English equivalent to level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, e.g. TOEFL IBT: 95, IELTS Academic: 7.0. If students have successfully completed one year of high school or university with English as the primary language of instruction, they do not need to submit an additional test.

Bard College
