Your Fast-Track to a Master Degree in Business Marketing
Scientific foundation and practical relevance
The Master's programs of the MBM include the teaching of scientifically systematic methods with the help of which you can analyze, plan and design your current and future range of tasks from a company-related perspective. The conceptual design is based on the current requirements of operational practice. In addition, a large number of the written master's theses are put into practice.
Part-time conception
The MBM programs are part-time distance learning courses with integrated face-to-face seminars taking into account the situation of active managers or junior managers.
In view of the uncertainty about the course of the corona crisis, we have already decided to take measures for the upcoming academic year of the EMBM. As usual, the 38thclass of the EMBM will start with the face-to-face seminar I. As an alternative to the on-site seminars in Berlin, there will be the opportunity to participate in the seminars online, should the situation require it. By means of diverse teaching methods and interactive online learning formats, we have succeeded in creating an innovative, virtual educational environment that also ensures a comprehensive study experience online.
Interdisciplinary approach
The Master's programs of the MBM link business, economic and behavioral science modules to the specialist knowledge from your practical work.

Study contents
The EMBM program provides you with the business know-how you need to successfully market products and services to business customers: Marketing and sales knowledge as well as basics in strategy, management, controlling, pricing and e-business.
In the first eight months, you will complete the compulsory modules of the program and acquire the fundamentals that you must master regardless of your industry and field of activity.
You can individually design the last four months of your studies by choosing two from six possible elective modules for in-depth study, and thus adapt the program to your personal needs. On this page, you will find an overview of the various modules as well as links to the teaching texts, so that you can obtain an overview of the contents of the respective modules.
Compulsory modules: Acquiring basic knowledge of managerial economics
In the first eight months of your studies, you will acquire the fundamentals that you must master for the successful marketing of products or services to business customers, regardless of industry and field of activity. Therefore, you will complete a total of four modules: Marketing and Selling in Business-to-Business-Markets (Module 1), Marketing and Selling in Service Markets (Module 2), International Competitive Strategy (Module 3) and Leadership Skills for Managing a Diverse Organization (Module 4). Each module is based on teaching texts including practice-oriented examples.
Concept
The EMBM is a part-time distance learning program with integrated classroom seminars at the Freie Universität Berlin.
Distance learning phases
In the distance learning program, you will acquire theoretical knowledge based on the materials provided. You will apply these independently to your own professional practice in assignments or you will be examined in written exams. Your personal study support is provided individually by telephone, e-mail and via an eLearning portal.
Face-to-face seminars
The face-to-face seminars take place in Berlin. In the seminars, the knowledge acquired in the distance learning program is combined and deepened by lectures, practical case studies, group work, presentations and discussions.
